Nigerian actress Dakore Akande turned 40 yesterday, celebrating in style with friends and family at a private event for the Nollywood legend.
Akande took to Instagram to commemorate the occasion and stated that despite being 40 years of age, she felt closer to being 14. She also posted earlier today to thank the well-wishers and fans for reaching out to her and wishing her a happy birthday. Videos of @dakoreea were also featured on Instagram what showed her dancing the night away in a beautiful dress.
Since her first roles in Nollywood productions back in 1999, Akande has featured in over 50 films including Fifty, Lunch Time Heroes and Isoken. In 2016, she was nominated for the AMAA ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ for her acting in Fifty alongside three other Nigerian women. At this year’s AMAA which is set to take place on October 20th, she has also been nominated for the same award for her performance in Isoken.
Unlike many other A-list stars who rose to fame as a result of doing crazy things, releasing their celebrity nudes and engaging in unethical behavior, Akande has managed to climb to the top of the entertainment industry in Nigeria through incredible acting and high quality appearances in some great movies over the years. Happy birthday, Akande!
